ECD Innovation Fund

Through this alliance, we finance, design, implement and evaluate innovative and scalable solutions in order to drive early childhood development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

NEW ALTERNATIVES

With the Early Childhood Development Fund we seek innovative projects focused on children below the age of 5 (early childhood) in the most disadvantaged communities in the region. Each project should put forward an ingenious solution or adopt one that has been considered successful in a different context.

DRIVING PROJECTS

We currently focus on three lines of action:

  • Generate evidence on which interventions work best based on models that are feasible to implement on a larger scale .
  • Share the knowledge generated with other actors in order to apply best practices in their fields of action.
  • Scale the solutions that end up being more effective in collaboration with regional governments.

"We believe that to develop children is to develop society. This Fund will allow us to achieve the goal of testing and creating public policies with impact in order to guarantee this development in Brasil and Latin America and the Caribbean."
Eduardo de C. Queiroz, Chairman of Fundação Maria Cecilia Soutu Vidigal
We believe that many innovations in the field of early infancy will be relevant not only regionally but globally too.
Tina Hyder, Deputy director of the Open Society Early Childhood Program.
"At IDB we believe that ECD is a crucial topic that requires joint efforts. The region’s future depends on the experiences that our children have during their first 5 years of life."
Bernardo Guillamon, Manager of the Office of Outreach and Partnerships

RIPPLING EFFECT

The synergy between international cooperation, governments, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and businesses will enable the replication and escalation of the projects.
