We brought Ready to Play! to the children of Chihuahua

We presented the ¡Listos a Jugar! (Ready to Play!) community strategy in the state of Chihuahua together with Sesame Workshop and the Ministry of Social Development. With this multi-platform program, we seek to promote healthy habits in early childhood children, taking advantage of play and fun, hand in hand with the characters of Sesame as the main catalysts for learning.

Ready to Play! is focused on early impact, primary prevention and the empowerment of children and their families regarding public health. In this way, it is structured in four units corresponding to the themes of body awareness, personal care, physical activity and healthy eating. The development of self-regulation has been integrated across these four units.

As part of this initiative, children in the state of Chihuahua will learn about healthy habits from beloved characters of Sesame Street. To do this, Sesame Workshop will train the staff of the Child Care Centers Unit with to give them the necessary tools and knowledge so that they, in turn, can train 300 educational agents from 200 child development centers, who will receive program materials, such as facilitator guides, story books, story mats, and the Ready to Play! videos.

“The environment of children has a great influence over them. With Ready to Play! we contribute to strengthening the capacities of educators, accompanying them during the deployment, to ensure that they have tools with which they can promote the development of skills that will stay with the children for life, such as those that have to do with the management and regulation of emotions. Ready to Play! is an innovative model in its way of approaching content that can be replicated in different communities in Mexico and Latin America and will allow us to continue expanding the impact on children and their communities”, said Eva Fernández, our Manager of Social Investment in Early Childhood.

On the other hand, Brenda Campos, Director of Social Impact of Sesame Workshop for Latin America, highlighted that, “promoting habits that positively impact the development of children is one of the central axes of our mission at Sesame Workshop. We direct our efforts towards initiatives that allow us to help the little ones grow up healthy, intelligent and kind, especially those who are in the most vulnerable conditions. With this alliance with the Ministry of Social Development of Chihuahua, we seek to sow the seeds that promote healthy habits from an early age so that new generations can reach their full potential.”

“Our commitment to the children of Chihuahua leads us to seek alliances with institutions that provide solutions to improve their development. We are excited to join this regional and national initiative led by Sesame Workshop and FEMSA Foundation, with the aim to strengthen the capacities of educational agents working in childcare centers and thereby guarantee the integral development of the population served, as we want Chihuahua to be the State that better takes care of its children, ”said Dr. Victor Manuel Quintana Silveyra, Secretary of Social Development and president of the Council for the Provision of Services for the Attention, Care and Comprehensive Development of Children in the State of Chihuahua.

We have already deployed Ready to Play! in child care centers and preschools in Chiapas, the State of Mexico and Nuevo León, as well as countries such as Brazil, Colombia and Guatemala, reaching more than 15,000 children. In addition, since we began distribution in 2016, its content has reached more than 10 million people in Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador through mass media and social media.
